Pennsylvania Hospital Pharmacy Residencies

The Pennsylvania Hospital PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Programs offer well-rounded and collaborative learning environments designed to develop confident, versatile, and practice-ready clinical pharmacists. We offer two PGY-1 programs: Acute Care and Ambulatory Care. Each residency offers a unique dynamic that allows residents to learn across diverse patient populations and practice settings.

The Acute Care PGY-1 provides residents with opportunities to develop strong clinical skills through inpatient-focused experiences, interdisciplinary collaboration, and management of complex and critically ill patients. The Ambulatory Care PGY-1 complements this experience by emphasizing longitudinal patient care, chronic disease state management, transitions of care, and collaboration within the ambulatory care setting.

At Pennsylvania Hospital, our goal is to provide residents with a supportive yet challenging environment that prepares them to become well-rounded clinicians, effective collaborators, and future leaders in pharmacy practice. The two residency programs complement each other by fostering a well-rounded learning dynamic where residents can learn from one another, share experiences across practice settings, and gain a broader perspective of the pharmacist’s role throughout the continuum of care. The close-knit, but different structure, promotes collaboration, mentorship, and professional growth while allowing each resident to develop individualized areas of expertise.
