Focus
This program focuses on development of fluorescence and Cerenkov optical imaging methods for detection of tumor metabolism and microenvironment in lung and breast cancer models. We concentrate on the synthesis and validation of near-infrared and radiolabeled contrast agents sensitive to alterations in lipid metabolism, tumor pH, and redox that occur during tumor development and in response to therapy. Our current efforts include the translation of optical probes for the intraoperative detection of tumor margins, and complete surgical resections in canine clinical trials of spontaneous lung cancers.
