Mission
Our mission is to provide an empowering environment for women radiologists and scientists by fostering mentorship, promoting representation in leadership, supporting mental wellbeing, and building community. Our group leadership, events, and WIR POWeRS awards are open to all Penn Radiology trainees and faculty, regardless of gender.
What we do
Penn WIR provides professional development training and community-building opportunities for women residents, fellows, and faculty at Penn, as well as trainees and faculty at other institutions through local and national collaboration. We have established a leadership pipeline through which mid- and late-career faculty support early-career faculty and trainees in building toward positions of leadership. We have been an active member of a national WIR coalition since 2020, co-hosting one to two national panels annually.
Annual FOCUS Conference
Each year, Penn WIR attends the FOCUS Annual Fall Conference, a Penn Medicine professional development event for women faculty, trainees, and their allies that fosters networking, collaboration, and career development strategies in academic medicine.
