Faculty members in the Division of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology practice and teach the breadth and depth of obstetrics and gynecology. Our mission is to care for the whole patient, from early adolescence to geriatrics, with emphasis on the reproductive system, including routine primary and preventive care, pregnancy and delivery, menopause, and medical or surgical management of all gynecological problems. Supported by the resources of a world-renowned academic medical center, physicians, midwives, and nurse practitioners in the Division of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology offer state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of the following conditions:

Gynecologic Care: contraception, family planning/timing of pregnancy, fertility problems, ectopic pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, menstrual abnormalities, pre-malignant lesions of the cervix and uterus, uterine fibroids, and other pelvic and ovarian masses.

Obstetrical Care: preconception care, routine prenatal care with vaginal and cesarean deliveries including trial of labor management and vaginal birth after cesarean in the appropriate patient, postpartum care, and contraception. Our team-based collaborative model includes advanced practice providers allowing us to care for both low-risk patients as well as patients with complex medical and surgical co-morbidities.

Gynecologic Surgery: While many problems can be managed using medication, lifestyle modification or non-invasive techniques, when surgery is necessary, we offer the full-range of gynecologic surgical modalities including minimally invasive techniques and robotic surgery. Inpatient services include operative and preoperative care for gynecologic procedures at the Hospital for the University of Pennsylvania, Presbyterian Hospital, Pennsylvania Hospital, and the Veterans' Administration Medical Center.

Our faculty members supervise the obstetric and gynecology clinics at the Helen O. Dickens Center for Women at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, the Ludmir Center for Women's Health at Pennsylvania Hospital, and participate in the education and training of medical students at the Perelman School of Medicine.
