Applications and Interviews 2026-2027
Our program is committed to a thorough review of applications that meet our requirements above. As part of this review, program signals and geographic preferences will be considered when determining interview invitations. Signals and preferences will NOT be used as part of the ranking process once someone has interviewed. Applicants who attend the Perelman School of Medicine or who have participated in away rotations at the University of Pennsylvania are reviewed using the same standards as all applicants and are expected to use program signals to indicate interest in our program.
In partnership with several of our peer programs, the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania has decided not to participate in the NRMP list lock pilot and will not be offering in-person second looks for the 2026–2027 application season. We hope this decision helps to ease financial and logistical burdens for applicants during the recruitment process. The first round of interview invitations will be sent out on October 16, 2026.
Our categorical interview dates are listed below. Some applicants may get a more limited selection of dates to choose from based on various factors including geographic location of medical school (we will have a limited number of dates with later start times).

Of course, we will gladly answer any clarifying questions or provide additional information to applicants. Any questions or comments sent to us after the completion of the interview will not be used to influence our rank list.
