The Interventional Cardiology Section provides diagnostic evaluation and therapeutic treatment of patients with coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, and structural and valvular heart disease. We perform more than 4000 procedures annually, including transcatheter therapies utilizing coronary and peripheral stents, acute MI treatments, assessment of hemodynamics and valvular heart disease, and specific therapies for atrial septal defects, patent foramen ovale, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, aortic stenosis and mitral regurgitation. The section has large portfolio of research trials providing novel and innovative device therapies for a variety of cardiac conditions, including renal denervation for hypertension, atrial septostomy for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, novel transcatheter aortic valve replacement prostheses, and new non-surgical therapies for mitral regurgitation.
