The echocardiography laboratory of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania performs transthoracic, transesophageal and stress echocardiograms in inpatients and outpatients.
Echocardiograms are indicated for a variety of cardiovascular diseases and echocardiography is a cornerstone of the diagnosis and monitoring of these diseases. The goals of the echocardiography laboratory of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania are:
- to deliver excellence in echocardiography, constantly improving our technological and medical knowledge
- to keep abreast of all innovations of the field
- to provide patients, sonographers, medical students, residents, fellows and providers an up to date and detailed education in echocardiography
- to promote research efforts improving and using echocardiography
- to connect integrate echocardiography with other forms of imaging to enable the best patient care and research
