Meeta Prasad Kerlin, MD MSCE  – Vice Chair for Faculty Development

Hello and welcome to Faculty Development in the Department of Medicine at the Raymond and Ruth Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania!

I believe we have an outstanding faculty, in a remarkable department, within a world class institution. We proudly aim to honor and extend the centuries-old legacy of the country’s oldest medical school and first Department of Medicine. That means delivering top-notch patient care, engaging in ground-breaking scientific inquiry, providing outstanding medical education and training, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism. Our faculty is the heart and soul of this department, and we can only achieve these goals through their incredible work and dedication to our mission. Our department is dedicated to supporting and uplifting the faculty by offering a collegial and supportive work environment, guidance with career planning, and unmatched opportunities for mentoring, collaboration, and professional growth.

I am proud and honored to be a member of the diverse and vibrant faculty of the Department of Medicine myself, and I look forward to working with all of my colleagues in their own advancement.

Warmly,
Meeta Kerlin

  • What is the Academic Planning Tool?
The Academic Planning Tool is a summary survey that includes a description of your clinical responsibilities, evaluations of your teaching and summaries of patient questionnaires, and an overview of your academic accomplishments for the current academic year. It is an opportunity to review your job description and performance, to consider goals for the upcoming academic year, and to spur discussion with your chief regarding your needs for your continued career development. The APT should be completed annually and reviewed during an in-person meeting with your Division Chief or his/her designee.
